Super Eagles of Nigeria star Abdullahi Shehu was exceptional for Omonia Nikosia football club on Monday evening, as he came from the bench to inspire them to a remarkable 2-1 comeback victory over Doxa Katokopia FC in the week 3 of the Cyprus Division 1 League.
The former Bursaspor football club left-back who has been exceptional for club and country for the past few weeks was dropped to the bench by coach Henning Berg in order to catch some rest, and he was able to impress after being introduced to the pitch.
The Nigerian international was brought to the pitch in the 86th minutes of the game, and he was able to play vital role in his team's deserved victory over their opponent.
Both teams efforts to break the deadlock in the first half of the game were not successful, as the first half ended goalless.
The visitors took the lead through Georgia national team star Ovto in the 73rd minutes and Michal Duris equalized for the home team in the 90th minutes via a penalty kick before Jan Lecjacks scored the winning goal in the 90+4 minutes through a fine cross from Nigerian Abdullahi Shehu to end the match 2-1.
The Nigerian international was exceptional for the home team after being introduced to the pitch, and he was able to mark his excellent performance with an assist.
The victory over Doxa Katokopia FC has now taken Omonia Nikosia football club to the 9th spot of the Cyprus Division 1 League table with 3 points from 2 matches played, and they still have an outstanding match to play later this week.
