Peter Odemwingie wades into the Bukayo Saka's debate
Peter Odemwingie spoke about the current debate on Bukayo Saka’s international future. The Arsenal youngster was a revelation this season, proving what an asset he is at the age of just 17. His performances for the Arteta managed team has brought to the fore the question of which country he should represent, between Nigeria and England.
The former super eagles forward reportedly spoke to ESPN; in his opinion, such decision should not be forced on any player.
He said that; ‘’I am person who believed that anything forced or manipulated in life, never ends up good. The choice has to come from the players themselves. As they say, the door is open, but it has to come from their hearts, it has to be with full commitment. If he (Saka) says hundred percent, am ready, I want to play for Nigeria, even if I’m in real Madrid and world player of the year if he says that himself, then you can cap him’’
Odemwingie was on the same boat as Saka, some years back. However, he chose to play for the super eagles. He went further to sight the examples of Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Timori who made the choice of representing England over Nigeria saying; it’s their choice and it should be respected.
