Edo 2021 is the 20th National Sports Festival in Nigeria. The Sports Festival is a biennial Sports Event normally organized by the National Sports Ministry and sponsored by the Federal Government where all the 36 States in Nigeria with the Federal Capital Territory will converge in the hosting with their best athletes.
The National Sports Festival was started in 1973 with the intention of unifying and promoting peace and harmony within the States of the Federation and also use as an avenue to discover new talents that can represent the country in International Competition like the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.
During the ongoing Edo 2021 National Sports Festival, the youths representing Nasarawa State in the Scrabble Events surprised all the spectators, analyst and sports pundits by winning Gold Medal in the Open Doubles Scrabble Category.
The game of Scrabble is generally a word game where 2-4 players earn points by placing tiles which bear a single letter, onto a game board divided into a 15×15 grid of squares. The Scrabble tiles must form words in a crossword fashion, that can be read left to right in rows or downward in columns, and be included in a standard Scrabble Collins Dictionary
The Nasarawa Scrabble team which comprises of

Anthony Idorenyi (male player)
Aboki Otuwose (male player)
Janet Musa Sarki (only female player)
All these players exhibited great team spirit and Scrabble artistry with a commendable conduct to strive for victory in the category the participated. Significantly, this is a rare occurrence owing to the fact that this is the first time in the history of Nasarawa state winning a Scrabble Goal medal in the National Sports Festival.
With the achievement of the young Nasarawa Scrabble Players at Edo 2021 Sports Festival, the State Government need to reward such bravery and efforts by the players, and also, since sports stands to be a uniting and driving force for unity and development in the country, the Government needs to finance the Sports sector to encourage more youths in participating in sports.
