Which Midfielder Can Be Relied Upon To Replicate Wilfred Ndidi's Influence In Nigeria's Midfield?

Nigeria is set to face a huge encounter with the Central African Republic in matchday three of the World Cup qualifying group stage match which will be played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Thursday at 5pm.

Most of the invited Nigerian players already arrived at the Super Eagles training camp with training sessions commencing in the evening. One of the most notable difference in the Nigerian squad is the absence of star midfielders Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo and Alex Iwobi.

For the second consecutive time, Nigeria's manager Gernot Rohr would have to pick a starting lineup without his first choice midfield pairing of Ndidi, Etebo and Iwobi. The Germany born manager has moulded his preferred midfield around these three players with Alex Iwobi the most advanced of the three while Etebo and Ndidi are tasked with protecting the defence.

Wilfred Ndidi is arguably the most important midfielder among the three and Joe Aribo can play Alex Iwobi' role admirably while Brentford FC midfielder Frank Onyeka is capable of playing Oghenekaro Etebo's role but who can be relied upon to replicate Wilfred Ndidi' influence in the midfield?

The influence of Wilfred Ndidi cannot be overemphasized. His special ability to cover vast amount of space within seconds keeps his team from being exposed to swift counterattacks. The Leicester City midfielder possesses huge energy and mobility that is so difficult to replicate.

Innocent Bonke is a defensive midfielder who plays for Swedish club Malmö FF, Chidera Ejuke's best position is as a left winger even though he could play as a central midfielder. He plays on the left flank for his club CSKA Moscow.

This is a question that needs an answer from the fanbase. Which midfielder can be relied upon to replicate Wilfred Ndidi' influence in Nigeria's Midfield? Tell us your opinions in the comments section.
