Iheanacho Is Not The 1st Nigerian To Win An EPL POTM Award, See 3 Others That Have Done So Before

Nigerian football fans and soccer lovers have been ecstatic after learning that super eagles star, "Senior Man" Kelechi Iheanacho of Leicester City had been named as the March English premier league player of the month.

The forward had scored five goals from only eleven of his shots on goal for Leicester City last month in the EPL, and even Manchester United fans will not forget so quickly how he broke their hearts and knocked them out with two goals in the 3-1 loss of the FA Cup quarter-final game.

While it may be possible that some Nigerians think that Imo born player is the first Nigerian national to win the prestigious monthly award, a quick research shows that Kelechi Iheanacho is in fact the fourth Nigerian player to be winning the award. Others are Austin Jay Jay Okocha when when he was playing for Bolton wanderers, Osazie Peter Odemwingie when he was at West Brom and Odion Jude Ighalo while he was still playing for Watford.
