Fans of Manchester United will be left gutted after the red devils played a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against a depleted Everton squad. Fans of Manchester United questioned coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's decision to start the game without Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba, and the in-form Jesse Lingard, but rather opt for the trio of Edison Cavani, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood in attack for Manchester United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was vindicated for his decision when Anthony Martial gave Manchester United just before the end of the first half, with Manchester United leading the devils looked like a team that would win the game.
Where it All Went Wrong
At the start of the second half Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was under no pressure decided to make questionable changes, which were obvious errors, he decided to bring in Jadon Sancho for Anthony Martial who was playing well, Cristiano Ronaldo for Edison Cavani who also was a threat to the Everton defense, then he brought in Paul Pogba to replace a defensive midfielder, Fred.
Solskjaer's tactical change was one, most especially when his Manchester United team were in control of the game, one would have wondered why Solskjer brought in Sancho to replace Martial who had just scored a wonderful goal, it would have been expected that Sancho came in to replace Mason Greenwood who was lost in the game.
Benitez and Solskjaer
Another decision Solskjer made that was questionable was him leaving the in-form Jesse Lindgard on the bench, at a point when Manchester United needed to score, Edison Cavani's facial expression when he was subbed told the story, he was disgusted at Ole's decision to pull him out instead of pairing him with Cristiano Ronaldo which would have made the Manchester United team more difficult to contain by Everton.
Everton's Gray vs Manchester United's Fred
For some time now Fred has been chaotic in defensive midfield giving away the ball and failing to make the right tackles, it was Fred's inability to tackle Gray that led to Townsend scoring Everton's equalizer against Manchester United. For how long will this star-studded Manchester United squad continue to suffer for Soskjaer's schoolboy mistake?
I guess if this team was being managed by another world-class coach, Manchester United would have been miles ahead of the rest, it might be time for Manchester United to let Solskjaer go now and replace him with a world-class coach that can adequately manage the abundance of talent in the Manchester United squad. Manchester United's next 6 fixtures may determine where they finish how the club finishes this season, they have a tough test ahead because they play Atalanta home and away in the UEFA Champions League and face Tottenham, Liverpool, and Manchester City in the English Premier League.
Liverpool Coach, Jurgen Klopp
Manchester City Coach, Pep Guardiola
If Solskjaer cannot clip the wings of the likes of Aston Villa and a depleted Everton side, how will he be able to handle the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, that are coached by master tacticians like, Jurgen Klopp, and Pep Guardiola?
