With Ramos set to be sidelined for an extended period post surgery, its a chance up for grabs for some.
First choice would be Eder Militao- pricey signing, got a lot to prove, trusted for the future.
Then there is Nacho- long time servant, loyal and quite impressive off late. To be honest, as a pair with Varane, Nacho has been more convincing than Militao.
During the earlier period when both Ramos and Militao was unavailable, Nacho stepped up and delivered quite well.
It will certainly be in the back of Zidane's mind while choosing his defensive pairing for the next few games.
Alternatively, we could also push back Casemiro to the defense and promote Blanco if the situation demands.
After the last game, Bettoni confirmed Zidane preferred Casemiro on the field as a centre back than bringing on Chust. If need be, Zidane may turn to his trusted big man again.
We'll miss our captain of course, but we do have some depth to cover for him. Tough phase ahead, guys. Buckle up and hold tight. Vamos.
