ARG VS PERU: Why VAR Refused To Cancel Peru's Penalty Despite Having A Clear View Of The Foul

Another controversial penalty decision by the Video Assistant Referee and Referee in the world cup qualifying match between Argentina and Peru on Friday morning.

Argentina started their strongest team in the world cup qualifying match against Peru. The likes Lionel Messi, Di Maria, Roberto Martinez, Otamendi, Paredes started against Peru.

A good solid performance from Argentina captain Lionel Messi created several problems from Peru defense from the beginning of the match to the end. Argentina failed to convert several chances that could have given them the early lead in the first half of the game.

Peru could not control the pressure from Argentina defense and that lead to Lautrao Martinez goal in the 24th minutes of the game. It was an amazing finish from the Inter Milan striker who continues to shine for club and country.

Martinez could have scored his second goal of the match all his efforts was saved by Peru's goal keeper. It was a brilliant first half performance from both teams but Argentina was more creative than their opponents.

The Video Assistant Referee refused to cancel Peru's penalty in the 65th minutes of the game despite having a clear view of the foul. From the photos of the incident, it is observable that Argentina goal keeper had no intention to foul his opponents.

It was a clear simulation from the Peru player but the Referee decision was against Argentina. The VAR refused to cancel the penalty because there was a small contact between the two players.

It was an unintentional foul from Martinez but because of the small contact, the Video Assistant Referee refused to cancel the penalty.

Yoshimar Yotun missed the penalty after hitting the ball on the cross bar. Argentina could not double the lead in the second half of the game but a single goal from Martinez gave them the total 3 points.

Brazil remains on the number position on the table after defeating Uruguay by 4-1. It was a brilliant performance from Brazil who are leading Argentina with 6 points

A win for Argentina in their next two games will qualify them for next year FIFA world cup.
