Tuchel explained that it was a difficult decision for him to leave the striker out of the team to face Leicester City in the final.
Before Thomas Tuchel was appointed in January, Abraham played a prominent role in the Chelsea team under former boss, Frank Lampard.
Surprisingly, he has fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel despite being the club’s top goalscorer this season. Tuchel prefers Timo Werner and Oliver Giroud up front to the 23-year-old England striker.
The German left Tammy Abraham out of his squad and decided to start Timo Werner up front. As Chelsea searched for an equaliser later in the match, Tuchel brought on Oliver Giroud but Chelsea still came short of a win in the cup final.
The defeat means Chelsea has now lost back-to-back FA Cup finals in two seasons after losing to Arsenal in the previous season. Following the loss, some Chelsea fans and football lovers faulted the manager's decision to leave the club's highest goalscorer this season out of his squad in a cup final. However, Tuchel has now defended his decision on the striker in the cup final.
Do you think the Thomas Tuchel made the right decision on Tammy Abraham?
