He started playing at Santos at the age of 15, and joined the national team at the age of 16. He had 619 goals in 638 games at Santos. He played from 1956-1974 at Santos and 1975-1977 at New York cosmos..Where he played 56 games with 31 goals.
He had a total of 767 career goals. He played 92 matches for Brazil with 77 games.
Pele didn't win the ballon d'or because it is meant for players in Europe only. Assuming it could be won at America, he and Maradona would have won it on countless number of times. He won the world cup 3 times, 1958 at Sweden, 1962 Chile, 1970 Mexico. He is known for making football famous and His contribution for Brazilian football and the world at large.
