La Liga Team Of The Week After Matchday 7

Match week 7 was concluded in the Spanish La Liga with many interesting results. Barcelona returned back to winning ways as they thrashed Levante 3-0 and there were also wins for Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla, Celta Vigo, Osasuna and Real Betis.

Alaves shocked defending Champions Atletico Madrid 1-0 while Real Madrid were held to a goalless draw by Villareal. This article lists the star performers of the seventh round of games in Spain's top-flight.


Goalkeeper: Jasper Cillesen (Valencia)

The Dutch goal keeper made superb saves in Valencia's draw with Athletic Bilbao at the Mestalla stadium.

Cillesen made many saves including a crucial late save from Inigo Martinez's header to earn a point for the Los Che.


Defender: Victor Larguardia (Alaves)

The cntre-back gave Alaves the lead against defending champions Atletico Madrid with a bullet header as early as the fourth minute.

The 31-year old centre back then led his backline resolutely throughout the rest of the game as they repelled waves of Atletico's attacks to record their first win of the campaign.


Defender: Eder Militao (Real Madrid)

The Brazilian-born defender has established himself as one of the best centre backs in Spain after Sergio Ramos departure.

Militao made sure things were tight at the back against Villareal in Real Madrid's goalless draw at the Santiago Bernabeu.


Defender: Sergino Dest (Barcelona)

The American full-back was on top of his game against Levante as he helped the Catalans to a 3-0 win over Levante.

Dest set up De Jong for the Blaugrana's second goal after an impressive build-up play on the left flank.


Defender: Cote (Osasuna)

The Osasuna left-back was on the scoresheet with a goal of the season contender against Mallorca on Saturday. Cote smashed in a long range effort into the top corner for his first goal in two years. He also fulfilled his defensive responsibilities at the back as Osasuna held on to remain unbeaten on the road.


Midfielder: M.Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad)

The attacking midfielder continued his impressive run this season with a match winning performance against Elche. Oyarzabal grabbed the winner in the 81st minute as Sociedad continues their best start to a La Liga season after 7 games.


Midfielder: Denis Suarez (Celta Vigo)

The former Barcelona man is gradually re-establishing his reputation in La Liga with a superb match-winning goal for Celta Vigo against Granada on Monday night.

Suarez who only came on after half-time, grabbed the only goal of the game deep into stoppage time as Celta Vigo narrowly edged Granada 1-0.


Midfielder: Alvaro Garcia (Rayo Vallecano)

Surprise package Rayo Vallecano continued their strong start this season with a 3-1 victory over Cadiz. Midfielder Alvaro Garcia was on target for the second successive game to cap off a fine performance for Rayo.


Forward: Luuk de Jong (Barcelona)

Frekie De Jong opened his account this season in Barcelona's win over Levante. The classy Dutchman converted after a good build up from Dest as Barcelona returned to winning ways.


Forward: Radamel Falcao( Rayo Vallecano)

Falcao continued his renaissance in Spain with another goal as Rayo overcame Cadiz 3-1. Falcao latched on a cross to score his third goal in three games this season.


Forward: Willian Jose (Real Betis)

Willian Jose was the match winner for Betis against Getafe as he struck in the 14th minute. Jose found the bottom corner after being set up by Nabil Fekir to score for a second successive game.
