Covid-19 Break Will Help Kwara United - Nwaeze

Kwara United defender, Christopher Nwaeze believes his team will greatly benefit from the halt to 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

The NPFL had been on break since March 18 due to the corona virus pandemic that has put the world on hold for weeks.

Kwara United were placed 19th on the NPFL standings with two points from safety, having joined the league after completing a takeover from Delta Force just before Matchday 8 actions.

Speaking during a phone interview with NPFLStats, Nwaeze, who is currently enjoying a memorable debut season with the Afonja Warriors, expects the Ilorin-based club to successfully avoid relegation when the season returns.

"This current break will help the team by the time we return because it has already taken pressure off the shoulders of the boys. Our mind will be at rest and we will return fresh and better," he said.

"Our next two games after we return are games we will win. We also plan to win home games against Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars and possibly win an away game too," he added.

Kwara United's next game when the football actions return for completion of 2019/2020 season is a home game against the Solid Miners. However, uncertainty hovers over when the season would return as Nigeria continues with fight against the pandemic.

According Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the West African country, as at Wednesday, April 29, has recorded 1728 cases of the virus, with 302 discharged patients and 51 deaths.
