Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville claims that Manchester United are still the favourites in the race for the top four this season.
United had a golden opportunity to leapfrog both of their rivals, and looked good value for the win before the Saints hit an injury time equaliser to snatch a 2-2 draw.
Former United legend, Gary Neville, is confident that Manchester United will clinch a top four finish by the end of the season. Speaking on the Sky Sports podcast Neville said:
“I would have put Manchester United well in front if that hadn’t happened in the last minute just because they are in great form.
"Leicester have got some tough games. Leicester have Tottenham on Sunday and Sheffield United before that, with United on the final day. You would say at this moment in time Manchester United and Chelsea are still favourites; but that result against Southampton will just put a seed of doubt in their minds that wasn’t there before.”
With Chelsea beating Norwich 1-0 last night , United need to ensure they don’t drop any more points ahead of the Leicester game on the final day of the season. With our recent form as it is, despite the last-minute blip on Monday, United must be deemed the favourites of the three to clinch a spot in the Champions League next season; especially due to their favoured remaining fixtures.
Do you agree with Neville, should United be expected to clinch a top four spot with their remaining fixtures? Let us know
