REPORTS: Chelsea ready move to sign another midfielder next year

Chelsea football club were undoubtedly one of the few busy Premier League teams during the just concluded summer transfer window.

The West London club are keen on competing with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool for more trophies this season and have splashed the cash to sign Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan during the summer.

That has quite worked out well so far as the Blues are currently on top of the Premier League table ahead of their match away to Brentford tomorrow.

And even though Chelsea signed central midfielder Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid last summer, they are interested in signing more midfielders and have being linked with a move for another central midfielder in Marcelo Brozovic.

The 28-year-old Croatia International, who joined Inter Milan from Dinamo Zagreb in 2015 has been an important member of the first-team squad since he made the move.

The experienced defensive midfielder enjoyed an interesting 2020/2021 season where he made 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing seven assists.

Marcelo Brozovic has also started the 2021/2022 season on a bright note and has registered one assist in nine appearances so far, helping Inter Milan to third position on the Serie A table.

However, the experienced midfielder has less than a year left on his current contract at Inter Milan and due to his refusal to sign a new one, he could be available for free next summer.

And according to reports from The Sun, Chelsea are willing to capitalise on this opportunity on bring him to the Stamford Bridge on a free transfer when the transfer window opens.

The reports further claimed that Chelsea are offering Marcelo Brozovic a lucrative contract so as to convince him about a move to England when his current contract expires.

That said, it remains unknown if the defensive midfielder will have a change of heart and commit his future to Inter Milan or consider a move to Chelsea in the future.
