The Impact of Newcastle United's Draw on Man United's last two games

In Monday's match at St James' Park, Eddie Howe's Newcastle United, and Leicester City played out to a nil-nil draw.

This result marked a historic achievement for the Magpies, securing them a spot in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in two decades, much to the delight of their jubilant home supporters.

The Red Devils also has reasons to rejoice, as they currently find themselves in an excellent position to finish third on the Premier League standings. The Manchester-based outfit are trailing the Tyneside outfit by just a single point with the advantage of a game in hand.

Both clubs are set to face Chelsea in their upcoming fixtures, with United enjoying the privilege of playing at the Theatre of Dreams on May 25 against the struggling West Londoners. The Magpies, on the other hand, will lock horns with the Blues at Stamford Bridge in their final game of the campaign, three days later.

Given Chelsea's recent form, it is highly probable that both Newcastle and United will emerge victorious from their respective encounters. However, United's additional match against Fulham gives them an edge in the race for the third-place finish.

Earlier this month, consecutive defeats against Roberto De Zerbi's Seagulls and West Ham United seemingly put United's top-four hopes in jeopardy. But they quickly bounced back in their subsequent home clash against Wolves securing a convincing 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho. They also secured a slender 1-0 win at Vitality Stadium vs. the Cherries, courtesy of a stunning goal from Casemiro.
