Barcelona didn't do themselves any good in their Laliga title chase when they lost to Real Madrid on Saturday. The Catalans performed very poorly in the first half which enabled Real Madrid to seal a win and move ahead of them in the league table. Atletico Madrid's 1-1 draw against Real Betis on Sunday also moved them back to the top of the standings, but the race to win the Spanish league is still wide open.
Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona all have 8 matches each that are left to play before the season ends which will determine the league winner. While the obvious tough game for Barca and Atletico is the one in which they'll both meet at the Camp Nou on the 9th of May, Zinedine Zidane men have some tricky matches that can make them drop points and miss out on winning the league.
The first one is the clash against Cadiz away from home on the 21st of April. Cadiz shocked Madrid with a 1-0 win early this season to become the first club to beat them this campaign. Cadiz have surprised many this season by beating some top clubs in Spain including Barca. Now Madrid will have to travel to visit them at home and a win can't be guaranteed for Los Blancos yet.
The second tough game for Madrid is the one against Sevilla on the 9th of May. Madrid may have won their last 3 games against Sevilla but Julen Lopetegui men are very unpredictable. Los Blancos might lose points in this particular game if they are not careful.
The last tricky game for Madrid this season is against Athletic Bilbao. Madrid beat Bilbao 3-1 in the league this season but were left stunned in the Super Cup when Marcelino Garcia men beat them 2-1 at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano. Bilbao are trying to seal a European spot this season after a recent run of poor results and would do everything they can to finish the season strongly by trying to upset Madrid.
Barca need to win all their remaining games this season to stand a chance of lifting the Laliga title. The match against Atletico is the most important. If the Catalans can win all their games, securing the league trophy could be achieved as Madrid may still drop points on the road.
