One player and two officials are reportedly Seriously Injured while several others sustained minor injuries as Akwa United Football Club survived a serious accident along Ezionye Express Road in Enugu.
The Uyo based football club were traveling to Kaduna to honour their scheduled match day 15 league match against Jigawa Golden Stars when the unfortunate incidence happened earlier this morning Friday, 12th March, 2021.
According to the club's official Twitter handle and Facebook page, the three persons who were seriously injured were taken to the hospital for proper examination and treatment. Other players and officials sustained just minor injuries.
Akwa United are unbeaten in their last four league matches, with two wins and two draws and are placed 5th on the Nigerian Professional Football league table. It is yet to be seen if the match scheduled for Sunday against 16th Placed Jigawa Golden Stars who have one win in their last four games will proceed or be postponed.
