4-3-3: PSG Strongest Lineup That Could Bounce Them Back To winning Ways

PSG VS Bayern Munich

The fate of Christophe Galtier's tenure at Paris Saint-Germain hangs in the balance as they face a crucial 90 minutes against Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night. In the first leg, a lone goal from former PSG player Kingsley Coman secured a 1-0 win for the Bavarians, leaving PSG with a sense of déjà vu and a challenging task ahead.

During the first leg of their last-16 tie, Bayern Munich brought back memories of their 2019-20 final showdown with PSG, whom they defeated with a winning goal from Coman. The same story repeated itself when the two teams met again in the French capital, where Coman, a former PSG academy player, scored the sole goal in the 53rd minute, allowing Julian Nagelsmann's side to secure a valuable victory

Despite a late sending-off for Benjamin Pavard, Bayern is halfway to avenging their elimination by PSG in last season's quarter-finals and avoiding their second last-16 exit in 12 Champions League campaigns. In 2018-19, Liverpool knocked out the perennial German champions at this stage.

Bayern Munich boasts an impressive record in the Champions League, having not been eliminated from the competition after winning the first leg of a knockout tie since the 2010-11 season. The German champions have won 15 of their last 17 top-tier European matches at the Allianz Arena, including all three of their group-stage fixtures against Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Viktoria Plzen this campaign, with the added bonus of keeping clean sheets in all three games.

Bayern has also been a formidable force on their home ground, failing to score in a Champions League match at the Allianz Arena since April 2018. Furthermore, they remain in control of the tightly contested Bundesliga title race following their 2-1 victory over Stuttgart on Saturday, just hours before PSG made history in their match.

Although PSG's defense showed some flaws, they still managed to secure a 4-2 victory against Nantes in Ligue 1 over the weekend. This historic win will be remembered by the French champions as they celebrated Kylian Mbappe's achievement of becoming the club's all-time top goalscorer by surpassing Edinson Cavani's record of 200 goals. Mbappe's goal, the fourth and final one for PSG, came late in the game and was followed by a burst of emotions.
