Spanish La Liga Santander giant, Real Madrid were in action yesterday in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals ties away from home against Pep Guardiola led Manchester City team at the Etihad Stadium.
The Los Blancos in the game were not at the peak thereby unable to replicate their top notch performance like they did in the first leg of the ties, where they gave a good fighting spirit that made them balanced the game going into the second leg.
Italian tactician and former Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti made a tactical change to the starting XI line-up as Eder Militao replaced Antonio Rudiger at the heart of the defence line, as he was paired alongside David Alaba as the central defenders.
As such the defence line was not as solid as what was seen in the first leg of the ties at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu where the German international and former Chelsea star, Antonio Rudiger gave a rocky performance to neutralize the Manchester City's attacking force with just one goal conceded in the whole 90 minutes duration of the game.
First half brace from Bernardo Silva gave the host a double lead going into the half time break which ended two nil before Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez got the lead extended for the Cityzen in the second half of the game, thereby ended four nil at full time and five goals to one on aggregate.
As such, Real Madrid have now crashed out of the competition at the semi-finals stage of their title-defence campaign with Carlo Ancelotti playing his part in the disappointing and humiliating exit, by dropping Antonio Rudiger on the bench before coming on as a second half substitute when his team were already two goals down trailing from behind.
