Ahmed Musa gives Super Eagles' teammates N5m after Cape Verde win

Ahmed Musa, the captain of the Super Eagles, has committed to split N5 million with his teammates.

Musa was set to receive N10 million after appearing in the 2-1 win over Cape Verde, which was scheduled to be his 100th cap for the national side.

The Nigeria Football Federation's President, Amaju Pinnick, announced that the federation will begin honouring every player that hits the centennial mark.

Musa immediately handed half of his award to his teammates as a thank you for their support after Pinnick's remark.

“I appreciate the gift, Mr. President, and on behalf of my family, I want to express our gratitude to everyone. As for the coach, I appreciate everything you've done for me. You have shaped who I am now, and I am grateful.

“And for my teammates, I have nothing to say, and for the ten million, I'm giving the squad five million naira,” Musa stated.

Since then, FIFA has decreased the 28-year-cap old's total to 98, a decision that the NFF has endorsed.
