By featuring in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Central African Republic, Ahmed Musa earned his 101 caps for the Super Eagles, making him the third player to ever achieve such milestone in the history of Nigerian football with Vincent Enyeama and Super Eagles assistant coach Joseph Yobo, the 2 other players to have made 101 caps for Nigeria prior to their retirement.
(Yobo, Musa and Enyeama)
Such loyalty and hard work from footballers shouldn’t go unnoticed, as they (Ahmed Musa, Vincent Enyeama and Joseph Yobo) should be rewarded by the Nigerian Football Federation, as it will inspire the next generation and younger players to continue flagging the colors of the country with pride and dignity on and off the football pitch. Most European players have been honored by either their club side or country with statues for their great achievements as these good gesture could be replicated for Ahmed Musa, Vincent Enyeama and Joseph Yobo (Vincent Enyeama was regarded as one of Nigeria’s most decorated goalkeepers while Joseph Yobo, was a defender whose presence was instrumental to Nigeria’s dominance during his career).
However, Ahmed Musa stands a better chance to extend and also break the existing record that was kept by his predecessors if he continues to get called up and selected by the coach for the Super Eagles next FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches. Currently the captain of the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa has his heart and eyes on a possible World Cup appearance for the Super Eagles, with hopes of making history. Super Eagles are currently leading their World Cup Qualifying group, as they are 9 points from 4 matches (Cape Verde are second with 7 points, Central African Republic are third with 4 points while Liberia occupies the fourth spot with 3 points from 4 matches respectively) following some impressive displays.
Congratulations to Ahmed Musa and to the entire Super Eagles team.
