3 reasons why Arsenal can not sign Raheem Sterling despite their strong interest in him.

Arsenal has been linked with Manchester City's Raheem Sterling, but it's becoming clearer by the day that they won't be able to sign him.

When the news first broke, every Arsenal supporter was ecstatic, but one by one, their hopes were dashed.

Man City are reportedly having difficulty convincing Raheem Sterling to sign a new contract, which is why Arsenal are suddenly interested in the England international.

But, for a variety of reasons, I don't believe Arsenal will be able to acquire Sterling.

First and foremost, I don't believe many clubs could afford his salary, which will be a major stumbling block in any transfer. He still has too much to give Manchester City, and it would be foolish to lose a player of his caliber.

Second, would Sterling get the thrill of winning trophies if he played for Arsenal? Probably not, in my opinion, because they still have a lot of work to do.

Third, Arsenal is a long way from being in the top four, and from attracting players like Raheem Sterling. Arsenal would have to give him Champions League football and I very much doubt that will happen.

Mikel Arteta would definitely try to utilize his connections to lure Raheem Sterling to Manchester City next year if he decides to go, but the North London club is far down the pecking order.

To even consider making an official offer for the England international, Arsenal will need to reclaim their place in the Champions League. Then there's his massive wage demands, as well as a transfer fee ( his deal with City expires in 2023).

Overall, Arsenal is nowhere near signing Raheem Sterling, and it will be nothing short of a miracle if they are able to do it next summer.
