Lokoja, the Confluence State of Nigeria was in a joyous mode yesterday when some super Eagle legends stormed Kogi to Honor a novelty match organized by his Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the game held at the Confluence Stadium was staged between Super Eagle legends and Principal actors in Yahaya Bello led administration otherwise known as the "New Direction Team"
Some of the Ex-Super Eagle legends who graced the important Football Match are, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Peter Rufai, Mutiu Adepoju, Tijjani Babangida, Garba Lawal, Julis Aghahowa, Victor Ikpeba and Ifeanyi Udeze.
The Clash ended with 1:1 draw, but behind the scoreline lies a huge talking point submitting towards the next Political dispensation in Kogi State, During the Novelty Match between Ex-super Eagle players and Kogi State government functionaries, Gov Yahaya Bello removed his captain band and placed it on the arm of his deputy, Chief Edward Onoja. This is beyond normal soccer occurrence, it's a clear message ahead of 2023.
The Governor who was billed to be substituted decides to handover the Captaincy role to Chief Edward Onoja, who has been largely tipped to succeed the Governor in 2023.
This singular act of handing over the Captaincy role to the Deputy Governor might represent the True picture of what lies ahead in Kogi Politics.
