The most successful teams are the ones with a great number of trophies irrespective of the style of play and management. Trophies determine a club's significance and pedigree when compared with other teams across the globe.
Before now, Arsenal was best known to produce the best style of football but for more the past decades they have come under severe criticism by pundits, club supporters and neutral supporters due to their lack of competitiveness in winning trophies.
The English Premier League comprises five big teams namely; to, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Below is a report showing the breakdown of trophies won by these clubs according to Krysstal.com
Manchester United have won 42 major titles across Europe since it was founded in 1878, which places them in the second position on the number of accolades won according to the above report.
The trophies include 20 League titles, 12 FA Cups, 5 League Cups, 3 UEFA Champions League, and one Europa League and Champions Cup each. Sir Alex Ferguson has won 38 out of the 42 trophies in 26 years stint at the club.
Chelsea on the other end has won 25 major trophies across Europe since it was founded in 1905, and are fourth on the list behind fellow London Club; Arsenal.
The trophies won include; 6 League titles, 8 FA Cups, 5 League Cups, 2 UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Champions Cup.
Manchester United are yet to win a single piece of silverware since 2018 after Jose Mourinho guided them to a Europa League title before his shock dismissal.
They came close again to winning the Europa League last campaign but fell short to Villarreal on a penalty shootout after playing out a 1-1 at the end of regular time.
However, since the start of the new campaign, they have been on an impressive run of four wins out of their five Premier League games with Cristiano Ronaldo netting three goals in the process.
Cristiano Ronaldo has a proven record of winning trophies and will surely restore the club to the glory it belongs through his goals and commanding influence. He is a threat to any opposition defence owing to his brilliance and shot technique when in the 18-yard box.
Chelsea on the other hand have also started their season in great form with four wins in five games and are currently unbeaten in all competitions. They boast of a very young and talented squad that can bring loads of trophies to Stamford Bridge soon.
Though, the trophy gap between both clubs in the ranking is huge (17) and looks seemingly unachievable for the Blues to overtake the Red Devils. The best Chelsea can do is reduce the deficit but overtaking them will be a ridiculous job.
That notwithstanding, anything is possible in football just like when Arsenal FC went on a ten years trophy drought under their longest-serving manager; Arsene Wenger, but I still doubt that to be the case for a Bruno-Cristiano partnership team.
