Thomas Tuchel breaks English football record in Chelsea's win over Brentford

The German coach has been a revelation at Chelsea since his arrival, and the Champions League-winning manager has broken an old domestic English record with his team's victory over Brentford.

Chelsea is the first team in the top four tiers of English football to win seven consecutive London derbies while conceding only one goal.

The incredible statistic highlights Tuchel's impact since taking over from former manager Frank Lampard, and it's just one of many that have put the German in the conversation as one of Europe's best managers.

Chilwell scored the only goal of the game in a hard-fought win over the Bees, scoring just before halftime to secure all three points and return Chelsea to the top of the Premier League.

Since Tuchel's arrival at Stamford Bridge, the Blues have more clean sheets than goals conceded, and the fact that the European Champions are top of the Premier League and capable of defending their Champions League title is no coincidence.

The Blues incredible away record in London has been completed by victories over Fulham, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Arsenal, and Brentford, as well as two victories over Tottenham.

The left wing-back has had to wait for his chances this season, having been overlooked by our head coach at the start of the season, but he has been making up for lost time recently, with this his third goal in as many games for club and country, after also scoring in our last match at Southampton and for England during the international break.

Chilwell's recent form has not surprised Thomas Tuchel, who is simply pleased that he has recovered his fitness in time to make a significant contribution to the side as his confidence grows.

Brentford, trailing to a first-half Ben Chilwell goal, took a direct approach in the final quarter to keep the Premier League leaders under constant pressure.

While the Blues was able to weather the storm, Tuchel claims that once Brentford threw more players forward, it felt like Chelsea were playing with one fewer player.
