While they do this, in frequent regularity, they will be helping themselves to becoming the highest goalscorers for that campaign.

In the history of the competition, many players have emerged as the highest goals scorers for a particular season. Of these players, some have scored the most goals for a particular season.

In this article, we will take a look at 10 times the most goals have been scored by a single player in a single Premier League season. As you would expect, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi feature heavily on this list. However, who will come top and how many times do they feature? Read on.

Below are 10 players with the most goals score in a single Champions League campaign.

10. Messi.

The first player on this list with his first of many appearances is Lionel Messi. Messi scored 12 goals in 13 games on their way to winning the title in the 2010/2011 Champions League season. He even scored in the final against Manchester United.

9. Cristiano Ronaldo.

As you would expect, any list you find Lionel Messi, Ronaldo will not be far off him. The next player on this list is Cristiano Ronaldo. In the 2012/2013 Champions League season, the Portuguese international scored 12 goals in 12 games in the competition. It comes in at the 9th spot here.

8. Mario Gomez.

Well, here is a name besides those two mentioned earlier. Bayern Munich Mario Gomez helped himself to scoring 12 goals in 12 games like. He produced such a performance in 2011/2012 before Ronaldo emulated him in 2012/2013.

7. Messi.

For the second time, Lionel Messi is appearing on this list. In the 2018/2019 Champions League season, the Argentine scored 12 goals in just 10 Champions League games. That's more goals than the number of games. This run comes in at the 7th spot.

6. Ruud Vanisterooy.

Former Manchester United striker Ruud Vanisterooy used to hold the record for the most goals scored in a single Champions League season until he was surpassed by Lionel Messi in 2011/2012.

In the 2002/2003 Champions League season, Dutch international Vanisterooy scored a ridiculous 12 goals in just 9 games for Manchester United. He held the record for more than 7 years before it was broken.

5. Messi.

Lionel Messi is appearing here for the third time. The greatest footballer ever to many scored a whooping 14 goals in 11 games in the 2011/2012 Champions League season.

4. Ronaldo.

Haven made one appearance to Messi's three so far, he just had to do something. Five time Ballon D'Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a whooping 15 Champions League goals in one season alone. He did this in just 13 games for Real Madrid in the 2017/2018.

3. Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski is arguably the best striker in the last 5 seasons or so. In fact, he has been that since his move to Bayern Munich. In the 2019/2020 season, Lewandowski finished as the highest goalscorer.

However, he was only able to dominate the goalscoring chart in the Champions League for a season. With a remarkable 15 goals in just 9 games, the Polish striker edged his way very high on the list. He did this in the 2019/2020 season.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo.

To balance the equation, Cristiano Ronaldo is making his third appearance on this list. The greatest goalscorer in Real Madrid history score one of the most goals in a single Champions League season.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the most goals any player has ever score in a single Champions League season in history. Ronaldo scored a world record 17 goals in just 11 Champions League matches in the 2013/2014 season.

With the record being 17 goals in one campaign, do you think any other player will be able to break Ronaldo's record? It's 2021 now, about 7 years since he achieved this, and no player aside him has even come close.
