Boxing fans were treated to a very interesting boxing bout between British-born Anthony Joshua and Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk when both boxers contested for the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles, with the former seeking to retain his titles. But Anthony Joshua lost his boxing titles to Oleksandr Usyk in an unanimous decision.
The three scores, 117-112, 116-112, 115-113 of the boxing bout released by the judges were all in favour of Oleksandr Usyk as the Ukrainian boxer emerged champion over twelve rounds of the boxing bout.
In his postmatch interview, he revealed that the fight went the way he expected it to go. He also revealed that his boxing coach and other technical crew members had earlier advised him not to knock Anthony Joshua out but to see the fight through the twelve rounds.
He then revealed that he had spent half a year since January, 2021, preparing for his boxing bout against Anthony Joshua, training that prevented him from seeing his family.
Anthony Joshua's loss to Oleksandr Usyk is the British-born boxer's second professional boxing loss. Andy Ruiz Jr. was his first professional boxing opponent, and he lost.
Oleksandr Usyk revealed that his intention is to go back to his hometown to meet up with his immediate family, while Anthony Joshua, on the other hand, may seek to reclaim his title, as a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk was inserted into the fight contract agreed upon by both boxers' managers.
