Nigerian Striking sensation and Union Berlin forward , Taiwo Awoniyi ,was in fine form for his club side Union Berlin in their 2-1 home victory over Borrussia Moenhengladbach in the just concluded weekend fixtures .
Just coming from a fine run of form in last weekends round of matches the Nigerian playmaker scored the second goal of the encounter to give the home team a two-goal lead and put them in a comfortable position to take all three points .
The home team opened the scoring with a 22nd minute breakthrough from Niko gaiseelman following a sublime pass from Genki Harroguch ; giving union Berlin the needed boost to press on for more .
Following continuous pressure , the away team conceded again when Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi put himself into space for a pass from team mate Max Crus in the 41st minute to make it 2-0 .
However, some glimmer of hope came up for the away team in the dying minutes of the game when Jonas Hoffman delivered a superb solo effort into the bottom corner of the goal to bring the match to 2-1 and give the visitors some hope of saving at least a point ; but this wasn't to be as minutes after the final whistle sounded for full time .
The win gives Union Berlin 5 points from 3 matches and puts them at Eight on the table in the German Bundesliga .
