Trevoh Tom Chalobah is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre-back or defensive midfielder for Premier League club Chelsea. Chalobah joined Chelsea in 2007 at the age of eight and made his first team debut for the club this season in the UEFA Super Cup against Villarreal, having had several loan spells at second tier clubs in England.
The Sierra Leone born defender has been a revelation for Chelsea this season, contributing to the course of the club at both end of the pitch. The 22years old has made four league appearances for the blues this season, scoring two goals in the process. With his returns at the other end of the pitch, Chalobah is showing killer instinct that is lacking in most top striker's game, as such, we will look at six top strikers or winger which the young defender has outscored this season.
Generally, it is expected that strikers should score goals than defenders; however, it sometimes happens that some strikers just find it difficult to hit the back of the net regularly, while in contrast, some defenders will be having it easy at the other end of the pitch. One defender who has enjoyed a good season so far in front of goal, is Trevoh Chalobah if Chelsea, who has scored two league goals for the blues. Below, we analyze some top strikers in the league that the 22years old has outscored so far this season.
1. Harry Kane.
The England national team captain was a subject of interest from Manchester City this summer, however, after a move to City failed to materialized, the English man has struggled badly in front of goal. So far this season, he is yet to register a single goal in the Premier League, although he will hope that stops soon, as he can't afford, not to score goals at the moment.
2. Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguay striker has seen his chances of making more appearances for United this season restricted by fitness issues and the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo. However, after starting the game against yesterday, we can as well compare his record with that of Chalobah. Cavani's records so far this season stand at zero goal and zero assist.
3. Alexandre Lacazette.
The French man is not currently the preferred number nine for Arsenal this season; however, he has made two league appearances this season, and he is yet to score a single goal.
4. Jadon Sancho.
The former Dortmund winger was brought back to England by United this summer to much fanfare, however, after playing over 900 minutes of football in all competition for the club, Sancho is yet to register a goal or an assist.
5. Roberto Firmino.
The Liverpool forward had made five Premier League appearances this season, although most of it has been from the bench. However, the Brazilian forward only has one league goal to his name so far this season, which leaves him one short of that of the young defender.
6. Timo Werner.
A teammate to Trevoh Chalobah, the German striker has seen his first team opportunity this season restricted by the presence of Romelu Lukaku. He scored his first and only league goal till date against Southampton on Saturday.
While it is too early to judge all these strikers, it should be noted that, being a goalscorer, they are expected to have score more by now, which makes Chalobah's achievement a great one.
