The European championship begins today as Italy takes on Turkey in the opening fixture of the Euro 2020. Here we take a look at the group stages and the chances of each team making out of the group and we will focus on group A and B.
the Roberto Mancini lead team went through the qualify stages on unbeaten, winning ten of their ten matches to top their qualifying group. The Italians look likely to finish top of group A. They will certainly finish as group A winners
The Turkish team stunned world champions France during the qualifying rounds by collecting four points from them. Leicester City's Caglar Soyuncu was very solid at the back as they kept 8 clean sheets and conceded just three. This team should be watched out for. They can replicate the form of 2002, which saw reached the semi final of FIFA world cup in 2002. After collecting four points from the world champions, they should be full of confidence going into the Euros this summer.
After the exploits in France during the Euro 2016, Wales will be hoping to replicate that form this summer. They still have some of the players who played in France in 2016, they will be joined by some exciting talents like Wilson and Ampadu this time round. They will have to battle Turkey and Switzerland for the second place in the group.
One team going to the European championship this summer that one can't predict, is the Switzerland team. Often times when they are written off, the team bounce back from nowhere to pull surprises. So expect such from them this summer. They too will have to fight for the second place in this group with Wales and Turkey.
With the likes of Andreas Christensen and Christian Erikson who are going into the championship on the back of European and domestic successes with Chelsea and Inter Milan respectively. The confidence level of this two players can motivate other members of the team. They should be able to finish second behind Belgium.
The finish team are most likely going to be the weeping team of this group. Honestly, I don't see them standing a chance or causing any team trouble in the group. They will finish bottom of the group with zero point.
The current team of Belgium lead by former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, is seen is Belgium's golden generation and no doubt. But this team have failed where it mattered most. The European championship could their last chance of winning silver wear which they truly deserves. I see them topping the group. With Eden Hazard, Kelvin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, Belgium would cause all sorts of problem for their opponents during the Euros.
Russia could also have a say in this group but the likes of Belgium and Denmark will certainly be hard knot for them to crack. I really don't see them making it out of the group, except if they finish as one of the best losers.
