Another top star who could miss out on qualifying for the World Cup is Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski as Poland has been forced to play in the World Cup play-offs.

Just like Ronaldo and Lewandowski, Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Sweden side is also going to determine their World Cup place through the play-offs.

Other top European stars who could miss out on the Qatar 2022 include: Gareth Bale (Wales) and Lorenzo Insigne (Italy)

As for South America, players that are on the verge of missing out on the World Cup include:

Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez's Uruguay is also on the verge of not qualifying for the World Cup.

They currently sit in the 7th position in the South America World Cup qualification table.

James Rodriguez

James Rodriguez's Colombia is also on the verge of not going to the World Cup in Qatar as they currently sit in the 5th position in the South America World Cup qualification table.
