The youths of the Anantigha community in Calabar South Local Government on Monday, 27th April 2021 commenced a football tournament to honour Engr Ben Akak, the CEO of Ben Akak Foundation, in recognition of the foundation's humanitarian activities in C'River State.
The tournament, according to the organiser, Whilley Alex Ekanem also known as Pedro, is to foster unity and love among the youths of Anantigha area.
Expressing disappointment in the manner at which Anantigha has (seemingly) been abandoned, Pedro said he was delighted with the way Ben Akak Foundation responded to calls from the needy in the State.
"For helping the poor and reaching out to the less privileged, we the youths of Anantigha have promised to support the Ben Akak Foundation. This football tournament is our little way of telling Engr Ben Akak that we are solidly behind him in any of his future ambition. You can see the crowd that came out to see the opening match, it is a sign of total support and we shall never back out."
The opening match which was kicked off by a representative of the Ben Akak Foundation saw Team Greatness beating Team Jesus Army by 4 goals to nil.
