"A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again."
It has been a habit of mine to take the privilege as a writer, to celebrate those who have great impacts either in terms of public or international recognition that have finished their race of life or those who have served deligently and their impacts made while they were alive.
Late Olubayo Adefemi
Today 18th April 2021, makes it exactly ten years after Nigeria lost a professional footballer, Olubayo Adefemi in his prime. His death was a tragedy for Nigeria and loss to the Nigerian football . The news of his demise was shocking and devastating, which leaves a hole in hearts, that never goes away.
Olubayo Adefemi was a role model. A talented and skillful young player who achieved a lot within few years of his professional football career. As a fan I acknowledged him as one of the best rising football players during his days.
The 25-year-ols was born on 13 August 1985, but sadly passed away on 18 April 2011 when he was involved in a ghastly car accident while driving on Egnatia Odos, near the city of Kavala, Greece.

The vibrant player represented his country at the 2008 Olympic Games where he played all the games. Two years before his death, he made his Senior National Team debut against Ireland.

The young star was an amazing player. He received home and international recognitions and awards. He was a member of the Nigerian U20 Team that came second behind the Lionel Messi-led Argentina Team at the FIFA World Youth Championship in the year 2005.
However, Olubayo's survived by his family. He was the fourth child and second son of Mr and Mrs Adefemi. He was born into the family of five siblings, three girls and two boys.
Olubayo wasn't privileged to get married. The player was said to be on his way to finalise details of his wedding and to tie nuptial knot with his fiance when the tragic accident happened.
Although, death mostly comes unexpectedly, it remains a prayer point for God to give us the grace and lengthen our days to fulfill his promises on earth.
Well-known personalities from various fields came to pay their last visit.

Olubayo is gone but not forgotten. He will forever remain in our hearts.
