Juventus Would Expose Chelsea's Defense If They Repeat These Two Mistakes They Made Against Man City

Another round of the UEFA Champions League group stage matches is set to begin, and Chelsea is among the teams that have tough a game to play. The blues, who were victorious in the previous round, will be facing a mighty Serie A side Juventus on Tuesday.

The tie is going to be a difficult one for the Londoners as Juventus will also be on a mission of securing three points in order to top the group. Juventus have not had good results in recent matches, and their mission of bouncing back to winning ways may also make the tie hard for Chelsea.

Also, there are two mistakes that Chelsea has been making that the Italians may take advantage of. Those mistakes were also seen in their match against Manchester City and appeared to be the reason for the defensive error that occurred. If they repeat them on Tuesday, Juventus would expose their defense and score a good number of goals.

1. Using Kante as a winger

Kante has grown to become the player he is today as a defensive midfielder. He ruins the attack of the opposition and also plays as a perfect cover for the defensive line. If we look back, Sarri and Lampard tried to use him as a winger, but he could not adapt well to the position as cutting across the 18-yard box is not what he is built for.

On Saturday, Thomas Tuchel also deployed him as a winger, and it was not profitable for the blues. The Frenchman absorbed a lot of heat without making a good impression. His absence from the midfield also left Chelsea struggling to hold off De Bruyne.

It appears to be a tactical mistake from Tuchel, but if this same mistake is repeated against Juventus, the defense will be more exposed as the Italian side is known for using a direct attacking style.

2. Making use of the 3-5-2 formation

The 3-5-2 strategy is a shape that Chelsea is not familiar with. Although they were playing a big game and the manager had to do some tweaks. But with a careful look, it was a mistake as the formation ended up exposing a few defensive players.

Jorginho played horribly, and so did Kante Alonso. Juventus would take advantage of the drawbacks of this strategy. Therefore Chelsea should avoid the mistake of deploying it on Tuesday.
