Manchester United Fear Star Midfielder could miss Sunday's showdown vs Liverpool

As Manchester United prepares to face Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, Manchester United have been left sweating over the fitness of Bruno Fernandes

According to The Sun, Fernandes was 'limping heavily' after turning up for a warm-down session following United's 3-2 Champions League comeback win over Atalanta on Wednesday night. If the 27-year-old is ruled out of United's match against Jurgen Klopp's side on Sunday, it will be a big blow to the club.

United have lost their past three Premier League games, and the narrow victory over Atalanta has done little to ease the growing pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his role as United manager.

United trailed Atalanta 2-0 at halftime, but goals from Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire, and Cristiano Ronaldo in the second half turned the game around. But Solskjaer will know that his team will have to be far better against Liverpool, and Fernandes' possible absence would be a major blow. Liverpool beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 in midweek at the Wanda Metropolitano and currently second place in the Premier League, one point behind leaders Chelsea.

With only nine league games remaining, if United loses to Liverpool on Sunday, they will be seven points behind their bitter rivals. Fernandes has four goals in 12 appearances for United in all competitions thus far.

Marcus Rashford, who suffered a dead leg against the Italians, is also a concern for Solskjaer, but he believes he will be able to play on Sunday.
