2022 World Cup Might Be The Last For These 3 Football Stars

The World Cup is arguably the biggest football competition in the globe because it gives almost every single country the opportunity to showcase what they are made of. The qualification matches are still ongoing while few teams like Germany, Denmark, Senegal and Morocco have already secured their tickets for 2022 with some games to spare.

As every individual aspires to achieve the best in what ever he/she does, so also is it the dream of every footballer to win the World Cup title. Apart from it being the biggest trophy in the game, the fact that it is played every four years makes it even more unique and special.

So many football stars are getting old and they are yet to win this trophy. It will certainly be their target to clinch the title come 2022 to mark a very spectacular career. In this article we are going to see three (3) of these stars that could be playing their last World Cup next year.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)

CR7 as people will normally call him is a player under this category. He is currently 36 years of age, and by the time the World Cup tournament will be holding next year, he would have clocked 37. Playing the following next edition of the competition in 2026 is most likely impossible.

2. Lionel Messi (Argentina)

Age is a major factor that determines the performance of a player at some stage in football, and for Messi it is certain that age is no longer on his side. He is 34 at the moment, and by 2026 he will be 39. So it is arguably right to say that the 2022 edition of the World Cup will be his last.

3. Manuel Neuer (Germany)

The 35-year old is currently the captain of the German national team, leading them to an early qualification for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. He has played in three world cups (2010, 2014 and 2018), and next year's edition will be his fourth and most likely his last, since he will be 40 by 2026.

Which other football stars do you think will be playing their last World Cup next year?
