Chelsea Star is a Doubt for World Cup

Ben Chilwell has suffered an injury during the game with Juventus on Tuesday night forcing him to limp gingerly off the pitch.

The Blues believes he may have suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury and they are currently awaiting the results of a scan to know the extent of the damage.

The former Leicester City star has regained his Chelsea place over Marcos Alonso and has contributed immensely to his side's excellent defensive record.

ACL injury takes six to nine months to recover from which put the England international in doubt for the World Cup

The 24-year-old was seen writhing in pain after appearing to jar his right knee after a challenge with Adrien Rabiot.

The club is waiting to see how his knee will respond in the coming weeks before deciding on surgery.

This is bad news for England as having surgery will result in a lengthy recovery spell with the World Cup less than a year away.
