One player who have so far been consistent under Mikel Arteta is Brazilian Defender, David Luiz. Though he is becoming of age but there are two reasons why he should be given an extra one year contract.
His arrival from Chelsea came with a mix feeling among fans as many felt he shouldn't have been signed. Making a good number of appearances for Arsenal, he has had some poor moments and some good moments. One of the good moment is his display against Manchester City in the FA cup semifinal last year. He used his experience to help Arsenal pass that test.
On the poor moments, he made some terrible mistakes that have cost the team points, giving away penalties and getting red carded. Many have called for his contract not to be renewed but his recent performances and what he brings to the team shows he should be given another one year contract. Here is why;
1. Yes, it's a myth that he can't play in a back four very well but his consistency under Arteta has been impressive. As a ball playing defender, he has paired well with Gabriel Magalhães and Pablo Mari and has helped Arsenal in attacking plays, a chareacteristic that not all defender possesses.
2. What he offers on the pitch, along with the experience/influence he has on the younger players is big. Arteta have spoke on this a couple of times on how he has helped the young ones. For this reason, he should kept.
One -year extension as a squad player makes sense in my opinion and if possible, the club should sign another young world class defender.

03-17 02:31:36David's contract should be extended. His aggressive and mad dog mentality is needed in Arsenal squad. He bullied our opponent's wt his ruggedness. All striker think of David Luize brutality and give Arsenal defense d respect.
