Timo Werner might not be the most consistent goal scorer, but there is one thing that he brings to Chelsea`s attack that other Chelsea forwards do not have.
Timo Werner came on for Chelsea in the 70th minute and immediately he came on, the blues started to create more chances. That tells you something about what Timo Werner brings to the Chelsea side.
The German striker has had a very mixed time at Chelsea but he has barely featured for Chelsea this season. However, when he came on against Tottenham today, he was effective and he proved that he should be starting over Kai Havertz.
For me, Kai Havertz is arguably the most talented player at Chelsea, but the Premier League is very difficult. The physicality of the English Premier League doesn’t suit the German forward and he often struggles to make a meaningful impact for Chelsea.
Timo Werner is not the tallest or strongest of players, but he is always able to make more impact than Havertz and that’s because Timo Werner is more direct. Werner only cares about either scoring or assisting goals. He is not the most physical player, but he is very fast.
When he came on against Tottenham today, his runs allowed Lukaku more time on the ball. Chelsea created many chances when Werner came on.
Although Timo Werner missed a good chance when he was played in by Romelu Lukaku inside Tottenham’s box, he was still able to provide Anthony Rudiger with an assist.
Timo Werner cut the ball back for Rudiger who slotted the ball past Hugo Lloris. In 20 minutes, Timo Werner was able to provide an assist for his teammate and that shows what Timo brings to the team.
Last season, Timo Werner was only able to score 12 goals, but he also provided 15 assists for his Chelsea teammates, and that is more than any other Chelsea attacker.
Timo Werner will bring another dimension to the Chelsea attack and he will always try to locate Romelu Lukaku in the box. If he is given more game time, his impact will be better than that of Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.
