Samuel Chimerenka Chukwueze (born 22 May 1999) is a Nigerian striker who currently plays with the Villarreal Football Club and the Nigerian national team as a winger. Samuel was born in the city of Umuahia In Abia State to an Igbo family. He was brought up in a Christian home together with his brother and sister.
Samuel had his early education at Government College Umuahia and Evangel Secondary School, before beginning his football playing career officially. Samuel Chukwueze started playing football at the age of 8 and admired Nigeria Football legend Jay-Jay Okocha as his football idol while growing up. For so long Samuel has been mentored by Hon. Victor Apugo whom he (Samuel) saw as a father.
In 2017, Samuel Chukwueze joined Villarreal CF's prolific youth, after an impressive performance the Nigerian football had in the Under-17 World Cup games, were Nigeria finished top taking the triumphant. And he had the FIFA third-best player in the tournament.
Since then, Samuel Chukwueze became a force to be reckoned with in the game of Soccer, as most European clubs came for the young lad, after seeing the talent he got to offer.
After playing for the local side Diamond Football Academic for while he was assigned to Juvenil A squad where he made his first senior team debut coming as a second half substitute for Sergio Lozano in a 1-1 segunsa Division B away draw on 15 April 2018 against CE Sabadell FC.
Chukwueze scored his first senior goal against Bilbao Athletic on 20 May 2018, netting his team's second goal of the match in a 3-1 away win to Bilbao. He went finished the season with two goals in 11 appearances, even though his team missed out on promotion in the playoffs.
Samuel Chukwueze made his first-team debut as an under 20 teenager on the 29th of September 2018, after substituting Nicola Sansone in a 2-2 home draw against Rangers Fc, for the 2018-2019 UEFA Europa League games. Going from his impressive performance at the Europa games, Samuel was opportune to make his first full 90 minutes, in a 1-1 home draw against Levante, for the 2018-2019 la Liga games.
In October 2018, Chukwueze received his first call-up to the Nigeria Senior team, after playing for Nigeria at under-17 World Cup games. He made his senior team debut in the game against Uganda, as a starter where Nigeria finished with a draw.
In April 2019, Chukwueze's impressive performance got him Nigeria Football Federation's 2018 Young player of the year award.
In May 2019, Chukwueze was invited to represent Nigeria's senior team at the African Cup of nation and also in the under-20 team at the Under-20 World Cup. With the way Samuel his playing currently in Europe he might represent Nigeria in the two more World Cups to come.
He was part of the Nigerian squad for Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Egypt. He scored his first senior goal in Nigeria's 2–1 win over South Africa in the quarter-finals.

In October 2019, Samuel Chukwueze agreed to a new deal with Villarreal Cf that's to last till June of 2023. The four-year contract gives Samuel a release clause of €100m and an estimated weekly wage of €18,000.
