Nigeria international and Hoffeinem defender, Kevin John Ufuoma Akpoguma, refuses to be weighed down by injury that has plagued him since January 3.
The 25 years old went philosophical about the setback in a statement on his Instagram page on Saturday, which suggests that he is taking it in his strides.
"No matter how hard the present time is - We smile and keep moving forward," stated the utility ace who is currently down with thigh muscle injury.
The former Hannover player last featured for his club in January 2, in 3-1 home loss to Frieburg, and was replaced by Robert Skov 17 minutes into the match day 14 encounter at PreZero Arena, Sinsheim.
Hoffeinem have posted some poor results in Akpoguma's absence, notable amongst which is their 4-0 defeat to Schalke 04 on January 9. He rued the loss in a statement on his Instagram page thus:"I would have loved to be out on the pitch supporting my team today. Thank you all for your kind messages Coming back stronger than ever."
Akpoguma, who has a German mother and a Nigerian father, had featured in 13 matches, making the starting line-up 11 times, before the injury set in.
He represented Germany at all age-grade levels before switching allegiance to Nigeria, quickly becoming a mainstay in Super Eagles.
He made his debut with the three-time African champions in a friendly 1-0 loss to Algeria on 9 October 2020 in Austria, where he also featured prominently in subsequent 1-1 draw against Tunisia.
