LEI 4-2 MUN: 4 Things Learnt As Man United lose Against Leicester City

Manchester United were defeated 4-2 by Leicester City. In the first half, Mason Greenwood scored the opening goal before Youri Tielemans equalized.

Caglar Soyuncu put the hosts ahead in the second half, Marcus Rashford equalized, but United conceded within minutes to a Jamie Vardy half-volley.

Here are 4 things we learned from the match:

1. Trying to rush Maguire's return backfires.

When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's starting lineup was revealed, Harry Maguire's comeback was a pleasant surprise.

He had only one day of training prior to this game, and his rustiness was noticeable throughout the first half.

Maguire misjudged his time in the build-up to Tielemans' astonishing goal, dropping the ball while attempting to play out from the back.

It's also worth noting that Solskjaer's choice sent a message to Eric Bailly, since Maguire looked like a man lacking in fitness and sharpness.

2. Rashford good enough for Man United

Sancho produced four crucial passes in just 38 touches on the pitch, but his quest for his first goal or assist continues.

Rashford looked sharp enough, and he wasted no time getting back on the scoresheet, converting his lone clear chance to tie the game at 2-2.

3. Manchester United too open

United started brightly but struggled to maintain control after that, looking particularly dangerous on the counter-attack.

It was awful to concede just 15 seconds after Rashford's equalizer, and it's not something title contenders do.

Solskjaer only made substantial changes after United fell down 3-2, bringing in Jesse Lingard and Scott McTominay.

4. Unbeaten away record comes to an end

Coming into this game, United had gone 29 Premier League games without losing away from home.

That streak had to come to an end at some point, but it came at an inopportune time as the team entered a particularly difficult stretch of games.

The manner in which United failed to dominate the game and the manner in which the team disintegrated after getting back to 2-2 will be more troubling for Solskjaer.
