Premier League

Two things Solskjaer should do if he wants to turn United’s fortune around and save his job.

The United manager is under pressure now after seeing his side suffered three defeats in all competitions within two weeks. It started in the Champions League when United were beaten by Young Boys, having taken an early lead through Cristiano Ronaldo. After returning to winning ways by defeating West Ham United last weekend, United have been brought down low again after suffering two consecutive defeats that saw them exit the Carabao cup and also dropped to fourth position on the Premier League table.

While the United board invested heavily in the playing Squad during the summer, results and performances have not been that encouraging and their poor output in terms of performance means the pressure is now on the coach to turn things around or face the axe. Having observed the way United plays, we will analyze two things Solskjaer can do that will help turn things around for the club and also save his job.

When a club spent heavily to bring players of Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo's qualities, it is only expected that such team should go on and dominate games and earn many points. However, United's performances so far have not been encouraging, and their latest defeat means they have to find a solution as soon as possible, or they suffer further embarrassment as the season goes on. Below are two things Solskjaer should do to turn things around for the club.

1. Find a plan B against low block team.

One of the major attributes that characterizes a great team is their ability to find solutions to any problem posed by opponents in matches. United's struggle against a low block team is well documented, and it will only do them a lot of good if they can find a way of breaking down such defense.

2. Lay emphasis on dominating possessions and not just scoring goals alone.

United's game so far this season has been characterized by quick transitions from defense to attack, and they hardly dominate games. Dominating possessions is one of the ways to wear down teams and score goals, as such, when playing against teams that pack busses, United can easily break them down by dominating possessions.
