On this day, 1969, King Pele completed his 1000th career goals!


Famous as the greatest football player of all time, Pele on November 19, 1969 scored his 1000th career goal for club and country.

Born Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé, is a Brazilian retired professional footballer who played as a forward. Widely regarded as the greatest player of all time, he was among the most successful and popular sports figures of the 20th century.

King Pele was born on the 23rd of October 1940 meaning he is 80 years old today. He was born in Três Corações, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Pelé began playing for Santos at age 15. The following year, he joined the Brazilian national team at 16. During his international career, he won three FIFA World Cups19581962 and 1970, being the only player ever to do so. King Pelé is the current all-time leading goalscorer for Brazil with 77 goals in 92 games.

In 1977 Pele retired from professional football. He has since them been promoting soccer all over the world.
