Chelsea will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they face Brentford at the Community Stadium in west London. With 16 points after seven games, the Blues lead the Premier League standings, with Liverpool in 2nd and defending champions Manchester City in third. They went into the international break on a highnote by defeating 10-man Southampton 3-1, and Thomas Tuchel will be looking for more of the same from his Brentford side, who have had a strong start to the Premier League season following their promotion this campaign.
The return of N'Golo Kante and Reece James to training has given Chelsea gaffer Thomas Tuchel the much needed boost ahead of the trip to Brentford. After testing positive for Covid-19, French World Cup Winner, Kante has recovered, while James has recovered from the injury that forced him to withdraw from the Three Lions World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary.
USA Star, Christian Pulisic has returned to training after recovering from an ankle injury, but Chelsea must wait to see whether Romelu Lukaku and Antonio Rudiger are ready after suffering injuries while on international duty with Belgium and Germany, respectively. Tuchel will also be missing Thiago Silva owing to the Brazilian international's failure to return from South America in time for the Brentford match.
Chelsea Lineup Predictions versus Brentford (3-4-2-1)
Chelsea's number one, Edouard Mendy, should start in goal against the Bees .
Tuchel will be obliged to make changes at the back due to Thiago Silva's possible absence and injury fears for Antonio Rudiger. Trevoh Chalobah is expected to start, with Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen rounding out the defence.
Reece James' return to training is a big boost, and he could make an immediate impact for Chelsea. He'll start at right wing-back, with Marcos Alonso expected to take over from Ben Chilwell at left wing-back.
The France international has recovered from coronavirus and is ready to play, but the Ex-PSG Boss might start Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho in midfield. On the bench, Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are good options.
Mason Mount's passing, mobility, and high work rate keep the Blues ticking, thus he'll almost certainly start against Thomas Frank's team. Timo Werner's international break with Germany was successful.
After scoring against Ralph Hattenhtul's Southampton at Stamford Bridge, he should be hungry to add to his tally. With the German tactician confirming that Romelu Lukaku is fit to play for the Blues, the Belgium forward should spearhead the attack.
