Manchester United is considered one of the club's with the best attacking talents in recent years. Though, the current United side might be unproductive compared to what they have during the time of Sir Alex Ferguson.
It's quite surprising to know that Manchester United have not scored a single goal against Spanish side, Villarreal. Of course, what I'm saying is basically about Champions League football.
United have faced Villarreal four times in the Champions League and failed to score in every of those four matches. Quite astonishing, isn't it? You just wonder how this happened despite having the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney in the attacking lineup.
In 2005, United played their first Champions League game against Villarreal in the Group Stage. The game ended 0-0 as United dominated possession but failed to find the back of the net.
The same result was recorded in the second leg of that fixture played at Old Trafford. With Rooney, Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo upfront, no one would have predicted a goalless draw.
Manchester United had the chance to break the jinx in 2008. The teams met again at the Group stage with the result being the same. The return leg came a couple of months later. United seem favorite to win the game as Villarreal was condemned to 10 men. Ultimately, United failed to score in what seem to be a destined run of result against the Spanish side.
