Arsenal Transfer News: Ceballos returns to Real Madrid, Arsenal eye Ajax winger

Arsenal youngster Trae Coyle is set to join League One side Gillingham on loan, joining fellow Arsenal youngster Zech Medley on loan at the club.

Kia Joorabchian on Willian: “He is a free player. At the moment, just for now, I can’t say where he’s going to go, for sure Arsenal are one of the contenders, but it won’t be long before we announce it. We know where he’s going, so it won’t be long.” [TalkSPORT]

Joorabchian: “Today I read something about Joelson Fernandes, that Arsenal made an offer. He’s young, phenomenal talent, but we’ve never spoken about him to Arsenal. I’ve probably seen like 25 articles about him & Arsenal & it’s so untrue. I’ve never mentioned him to Arsenal.”

Kia Joorabchian: “People forget about the previous guy, Sven [Mislintat]. He made a bunch of, I don’t like to use the word, but, cock-ups with players he brought in at very, very large numbers.” [TalkSPORT]

Joorabchian: “We have three players [at Arsenal], one of them is not even in the first-team, he is in the kids. The second one was a free transfer & David [Luiz] has proved himself. I keep waiting for a phone call from Jamie Carragher.”

Mesut Özil: “I’m here through to the last day of our agreement & I’ll give everything I have for this club. Situations like these will never break me, they only make me stronger. I showed in the past I can come back into the team & I will show it again.”

Özil: “I’ll decide when I go, not other people. I signed for four [years] & that should be respected by everyone. Things have obviously been difficult but I love Arsenal, I love to work there, I love the people in the club & I love London, it’s my home.”

Arsenal are looking to strengthen in central midfield & have their eye on Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, who has also attracted interest from Manchester City & Newcastle. [Mercato]

Arsenal have long been aware of Gabriel Magalhães’ availability, have scouted him extensively & were offered him by intermediaries in January. But with the club’s financial situation uncertain, they instead opted to sign Pablo Mari on loan.

Arsenal are in talks with Lille, with whom they share a favourable relationship after last summer’s signing of Nicolas Pepe. A deal has not yet been agreed though, with Arsenal prioritising the contract extension of Aubameyang & completing the signing of Willian. [Independent]

Dani Ceballos will return to Real Madrid this summer, despite ‘weeks’ of negotiations with Arsenal about a move, after they chose to bring him back to the club & test him in pre-season before deciding on his future.

Real Madrid’s defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League has led them to change their plans with players out on loan. Ceballos & Martin Ødegaard had been ‘expected’ to stay at Arsenal & Real Sociedad respectively, but that has now changed. [AS]

Arsenal are eyeing a £25m move for Ajax winger Quincy Promes. Ajax are willing to sell the 28-year-old.

A source close to the player told SunSport: “Quincy would go in a heartbeat. It would be a great move for him - and Arsenal.” [Sun exclusive]

Fulham are considering a move to sign Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, with Scott Parker keen to bring him back on a permanent deal. Fulham would have to pay around £12m for the versatile defender & Arsenal are unlikely to stand in the way of his departure. [Sun]
