Kepa Could Stamp His Place In Chelsea Starting XI With Mendy's Injury Woe

During the weekend, Chelsea took on Tottenham Hotspur in the London derby. The match which ended in a 3-0 win for Chelsea, was their first game of the season without their solid wall in between the stick, the Senegalese sensation Edouard Mendy.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel had to start former first choice goalkeeper of the club, Kepa in goal against Tottenham due to the absence of Edouard Mendy. The Senegal International was ruled out of the match due to injury sustained in their last UCL match against Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Judging from the recent updates from the German manager concerning Mendy's injury, the Senegalese goalkeeper might not be returning back to goal anytime soon. This news might not sit down well with Chelsea fans who are beginning to have full trust in the goalkeeper's capabilities.

Thomas Tuchel's return to Spanish goalkeeper Arrizabalaga Kepa during the game against Tottenham produced positive result as they were able to keep yet another clean sheet this season, extending the number of clean sheet recorded by Chelsea.

Kepa also made sure to put up a fine display against Tottenham to ensure he retains his position in coming weeks. The goalkeeper wouldn't want this opportunity that has presented itself to pass him by, he would do all he can to ensure he doesn't concede at all if possible.

Kepa now has one clean sheet in the EPL and could go on to secure more in coming games if he gets to be in starting lineup. Surely he would want to solidify his place in the starting XI to ensure he is not displaced by Mendy when return back from injury. Do you see Tuchel sticking to Kepa after Mendy returns from Injury?
