It's been twenty days since the summer transfer window closed, and we're well underway into the 2021-22 season. With all of the main European leagues already in their fifth match week, things are starting to take shape. Most New signings have had plenty of time to adjust to their new surroundings, and managers are aiming to nail down the lineups they intend to play and possibly win titles.
Alot has been going on since the start of the season. Some renowned superstars in the top 5 European leagues are yet to make their mark and this has inexplicably gone unnoticed. Certain players have yet to lace up their scoring boots two months into the 2021-22 season and fans are beginning to wonder if these set of players would shine this season.
With that in mind, here are five world-class attackers who have yet to score a goal this season:
1. Lionel Messi (PSG)
Lionel Messi has yet to score a goal for the French giants in three appearances. He has so far failed to make an impact on the scorelines of the games in which he has appeared.
Despite playing alonside Mbappe and Neymer, he has failed to score a goal. In fact, the famed trio's first game together ended in a dull tie.
2. Federico Chiesa (Juventus)
Massimiliano Allegri's failure to select a dominant system for the club that brings out the best in his precious assets is part of the problem affecting Federico Chiesa. The Italian prodigy, has been employed at three different positions in as many games as anyone else and rhis has affected his game play. As a result of the continued instability, Chiesa has yet to find the back of the net in the 2021-22 season.
3. Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)
Griezmann has had a dismal start to the 2021-22 season, assisting on zero goals in his first six appearances.
The 30-year-old attacker has yet to score in three appearances for Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. To show how worse his condition is, he is yet to record a shot on goal in the Laliga this season.
4. Jadon Sancho (Manchester United)
Bought at €85 million, Jadon Sancho is the most expensive player this season with no goals to his name.
Despite playing 237 minutes in a Manchester United jersey, Sancho has yet to score a goal. The English prodigy, a brilliant dribbler at his core, has lacked the courage to play a starring position at his new team.
5. Eden Harzard (Real Mardrid)
Eden Hazard's time in Spain has been nothing short of a nightmare so far, and he is widely considered as one of the most disappointing Real Madrid signings of the twenty-first century.
Hazard has only scored five goals and added nine assists in 48 games for Los Blancos. The Belgian international, who was bought for a world-record cost of €115 million in 2019, has struggled to make an impact at the Bernabeu this season and is yet to score a goal.
6. Timo Werner (Chelsea)
Although he scored three goals for his country side during the international break, the chelsea star is yet to score in the premier league. Since the signing of Romelu Lukaku, he hasn't gotten much playing time at chelsea.
