Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was impressive for Savvas Poursaitidis led APOEL Nicosia football club of Cyprus on Saturday evening, in their 1-0 narrow loss to Henning Berg's Omonia Nicosia FC in the week 26th of the Cyprus Division 1 League.
The Nigerian shot stopper retained his spot in coach Savvas Poursaitidis led team, after his excellent performance in their previous matches, and he was able to impress again, as he made a couple of saves to deny the opponent from adding to the lone goal scored.
Francis Uzoho was preferred ahead of the second choice goalkeeper Miguel Silva, and he was able to impress, as he saved a penalty kick in the first half of the game.
The host opened scoring through a deflected goal from Ernest Asante, and the home team thought they've seen the opportunity to doubled the lead in the 43rd minutes after they were awarded a penalty kick, but Fotis Papoulis's effort was saved by Nigerian Francis Uzoho, as the first half ended 1-0.
All the host efforts to score more goals in the second half were not successful, through a brilliant saves from Uzoho, as the match ended in a 1-0 narrow victory for the host.
Francis Uzoho was exceptional for the visitors throughout the game despite the defeat, and he marked his impressive performance with a saved penalty.
The defeat now means APOEL Nicosia football club have dropped to the 7th spot in the Cyprus Division 1 League table with 30 points from 26 matches played.
